Tamara Gray

Provisional Psychologist (Hornsby)

Tamara is a dedicated and compassionate Provisional Psychologist, currently completing the 4+2 internship program as a pathway to general registration. Prior to joining the Spencer Health team, Tamara worked in a child- and family-focused private practice, delivering individual and group therapies and various assessments to young clients, as well as offering support to their parents/caregivers.

Tamara has also gained a wealth of experience working with young people of all ages in other child-related roles, both locally and abroad, over the past two decades. This includes years working as a primary school teacher and childcare worker, and volunteering as a community-based youth leader, mentor, program coordinator, and camp counsellor.

Tamara is able to quickly build rapport with her clients through her warm, empathetic, and playful nature. She prioritises developing open and collaborative therapeutic alliances with the children and adolescents she works with, as well as key members of their support network. Her inclusive, non-judgemental, and diversity-affirming approach provides her clients with a safe space to be and express themselves freely.

Tamara has supported clients presenting with a range of social, emotional, behavioural, academic, developmental and mental health concerns. She is particularly experienced with and interested in supporting neurodivergent children, adolescents and young adults, including those seeking therapy and assessment for Autism and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Her other areas of interest include concerns around anxiety, stress, depression, behavioural issues, sleep, learning difficulties, self-esteem, relationships, gender identity, and sexuality.

Tamara holistically considers each individual’s unique needs, presentation, history and circumstances to tailor a customised treatment plan, drawing on the psychological frameworks, evidence-based therapeutic approaches and practical strategies that are best suited for that client (e.g., CBT, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Exposure Therapy, safety planning). Tamara also engages in regular supervision and professional development to provide the best support to her clients.
