Neuro-affirming Support
At Spencer Health we provide support to numerous individuals and families who are seeking care and guidance with regard to Autism and ADHD. We have numerous individuals on our team who identify as neurodivergent themselves, and other neurotypical clinicians who are passionate about working with neurodiverse clients.
All of our supportive clinicians strive to use a neuro-affirming approach when working with our neurodiverse clients. We also have on the team individuals with special knowledge in Autism and ADHD as it presents in women and girls, and our CEO is passionate about supporting and educating clients, educators and health professionals in Pathological Demand Avoidance, including supporting PDAers and their families.
We understand that all humans are different and come with their own unique set of strengths and areas for development and support. We work to celebrate our client’s differences and strengths, whilst also empowering them to make changes in their behaviours and thinking styles which will lead to improvement in their day to day lived experience and relationships.
Diversity and Inclusivity
We are also proud to be an inclusive organisation which celebrates the diversity of the human form and brain. Our clinicians come from a variety of “cultural” backgrounds and all of us are passionate about being culturally aware and sensitive to the needs of our clients regardless of gender, ability, sexuality, identity and race.
Our values of Hospitality and Community are at the heart of our drive to meet the support and health needs of all who seek support from us. You should expect to be treated with dignity and respect by every individual within our organisation, and feel welcomed and included at our Centres.
Face to Face and Telehealth Sessions
We are able to provide services both face to face and telehealth (where appropriate). If you are seeking support from our team and are in a rural and remote area or prefer this modality, you are able to access support via a secure telehealth platform using your Mental Health Treatment Plan. You will be provided with information about accessing telehealth services following your intake so that you can prepare appropriately for your sessions. You will also be provided a consent to telehealth services form to sign as well. Please be aware that if your clinician feels that your treatment would be more effective if delivered face to face, this will be discussed with you and a support plan made.
Therapeutic Modalities
The type of therapy and treatment is dependent on your (your child’s) needs and what the Psychologist believes is of best fit. You can view some of the evidence-based treatments we practice at Spencer Health below:
