Community Initiatives

A focus on giving back to our community is at the core of our business values. As such, we have several community initiatives run through the centre and by centre practitioners.

Pre School Social Skills – Playing and Learning to Socialise

The Playing and Learning to Socialise program run at the centre, is a 10 week program aimed at assisting children age 3-6 with acting out or withdrawn behaviours. Covering skills such as greeting others, sharing, understanding emotions and managing frustration, the program equips children with the social and emotional skills they need to make healthy peer relationships. As part of our community outreach, we offer the program to pre-schools in the area at no cost.

The program is run by Intern Psychologists on placement with the centre. They have had thorough training in the program and are supervised by the centres Principal Clinical Psychologist, Emma Spencer. If you are interested in having the program delivered at your pre-school please register your interest via the link provided.

YouthFlix – FREE Youth Mental Health Support

Using the powerful modality of film, our YouthFlix group is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for teens to come together to discuss issues relevant to their lives. Further, we aim to assist the teens in developing some skills to combat social and mental health issues they might be facing. We will also welcome Expert Guest Speakers from all backgrounds, to present on relevant topics and host Q&A sessions with the teens. Details of the program are as follows:

Day – 3rd Friday of every month

Time – 6:30pm-9:30pm

Cost – there is no cost associated with attending the program.

Snacks and drinks are provided and the participants will have input into choosing which films they wish to have included in the program. The program is run by a qualified counsellor with the support of Intern Psychologists. It is our aim that the teens will leave each session feeling validated, supported, connected and with skills and information they can use in their everyday lives.

If you would like to make a referral to the program, please contact our support staff via the link below.
